Juggling is among the least dangerous circus techniques, at least without fire or chainsaws. Even clowns risk more by exposing their personalities. A juggler’s act is about concentration and perfection. Even with one ball, they create tension by tossing it between hands, feet, and shoulders. The audience sits on the edge when five balls are thrown in the air, hoping none fall. If one does, the juggler must show it was intentional, highlighting the trick’s difficulty.
In this project, I’m crafting juggling tools from glass. Now, dropping a ball is precious, and tricks must be performed flawlessly. But if one falls, what then? Will the focus shift to the glass’s fragility or the performer’s? It reflects on what truly captivates us in a performance.
